Deep drill turf de-compaction

Deep Drill turf aeration
We are delighted that we are now able to offer a deep drill service to compliment our range of rootzone turf de-compaction treatments.

For me it represents a very nostalgic and proud moment because I was originally responsible for importing the original machine in September 1992.

Sadly, in the intervening years and while concentrating on building up Terrain Aeration, I did not have dealings with the deep drill machine; until very recently when we rescued her from a dank barn, in a battered and broken state, purchased her and began the task of re-building - from that day on she became 'Phoenix'.

On first inspection, after the grease and grime and been cleaned away we discovered that the engine and hydraulics were in sound condition but sadly, the fast moving parts on the drill bed itself were completely ruined.

We came close to scrapping the drill bed because of its dreadfully worn and damaged condition but with a replacement drill bed potentially costing in excess of £15,000, we had to think again.

With the help of J.W Engineering in Rougham, Suffolk, we began re-building Phoenix piece by piece with all the close tolerance machining being done at Rougham with the whole work force painstakingly creating and rebuilding the hundreds of small parts.

After three hundred man hours, more money that we wanted to and reinstating one thousand parts, Phoenix is better than new and after further modifications and improvements in respect of safety and prevention accidental turf damage, we are delighted and thrilled to announce that our Deep Drill turf service is now operational.
